Cortisol saliva test
The test for the level of the hormone cortisol from saliva offers many advantages compared to the determination from blood: The test is non-invasive, painless and can take place at any time and at any place. The hormone determination from the saliva is particularly useful, as it determines the intended free, biologically active part of the hormone.
Points to consider on the day you come to the practice
On the day of your visit to the practice, where the oral mucosa test is also taken, you should observe the following points:
the saliva must not mix with blood, for example due to gum bleeding
do not use mouthwash or mouthwashes on the day of the test
Brush your teeth at least 30 minutes before your visit to the practice
before taking the test, rinse your mouth with clear water and then start taking the sample when salivation returns to normal
do not eat or drink one hour before the first saliva sample and during sample collection. Milk, milk products and leftovers contain significant amounts of hormones, which can then appear as elevated hormone levels
